Crystal Lens replacement surgery

by Shannon1919, Apr 30, 2008 02:41PM
My mother has had the Crystal Lens in both eyes for the past 3-6months.  She is having significant refractions at night and is unable to drive secondary to these visual disturbances (she is 62 y/o).  On the previous forum, one person wrote back that it was unwise to have the lens replaced after YAG surgery.  If the glare source is from the discrepancy between the pupil size and the optic size of the Crystal Lens, can the lens be replaced even after 3-6 months?  (Prior to the YAG surgery.)
Are there any specific recognized doctors in the US that specialize (and usually have good results) in this type of lens replacement and/or glare problem with Crystal Lens?
Thank you for your time,
Shannon

The Crystalens has a good record, the best of all multifocal IOLs. It can be replaced if necessary anytime even years later. Some Eye MDs have more experience with IOL exchange than others--ask your surgeon about it. No one just does IOL exchanges.

To: all
Are there 2-3 doctors in the US that have experience with replacing the Crystal lens?   Our doctor has told us that the lens cannot be replaced, and we are looking for a second option.
