Dear neisha90:  A small painful lump under the arm could be many things.  A common explanation may be an ingrown hair and this may cause inflammation and swelling.  Breast cancer is not usually painful and is extremely uncommon in a 17 year old woman.  If this lump does not go away or gets worse in the next week, you should have it examined by your doctor.  In the meantime, you might put some warm compresses on it and try not to put deodorant directly on the area.
