Bleeding Nipple

by Sparky04, Apr 30, 2008 03:18PM
On Monday I went for a mammogram and an ultrasound for a lump in my left breast and then a core biopsy.  It will take 7-8 days to get the pathology reports but my doctor has told me that it's a solid mass and is either a malignancy or fibroadenoma.  I have also had a bloody discharge from my nipple.

My question: is it possible for fiboradenoma to cause bleeding from the nipple?  What causes the bleeding? If it is malignant is blood a sign of an advanced stage or any indication of the type of cancer?

Dear sparky04:  Cancer is not the only cause for bloody nipple discharge but it is not typically associated with fibroadenomas.  If this is a malignancy, bloody discharge is not an indicator or either type of cancer or stage of malignancy.
