CRVO and impending retinal occlusion

by janathan20, Apr 30, 2008 04:56PM
I am a 25 year old, recently married female in dire need of help and advice!!!

About 5 years ago I suddenly started losing vision in my right eye.  I was diagnosed at that time with CRVO.  They attempted to treat me with steroids both oral and intraocular, with  no associated benefit.  I eventually lost central vision to my right eye.  At a routine check up within the last month with my eye doctor he noted neovacularizations in my right eye and referred me back to my specialist.

Here I was treated with laser to prevent the neovascularizations from developing further and causing glaucoma and retinal detachment among other things!  Unfortunately at this time the doctor also noted some optic nerve swelling in my LEFT eye, my "good" eye!  This is very devastating for me.  I have seen another specialist today and he said his best guess is that I have an impending occlusion happening in my left eye and there is not much I can do other that start taking a baby aspirin a day and wait it out and hope for the best!  I don't want to accept this and am looking for any help or advice out there.

Please help, I so badly want to have children and live a normal life and this seems hopelessly out of grasp!
