external thrombosis

by azulthunder, Apr 30, 2008 05:52PM
I recently felt a swollen area near my anal cavity(external) it was swollen to a good size that it did scare me,but no blood or any pain! next dya went to a family doctor who prescribed Doxiproct plus 4/2/0.025g.. every 12 hours took it for three days and the swelling went down a liitle more than half of what it was.....then went to a proctologist who then examen me and told me that he didn't see anything else but that I had what he called a thrombosis, change my medication to Salofalk(mesalazina) 250mg Supositories 3 times a day ...but still have the lumb near my anus and it has not gone down as much just a little,,,,he said it was only for 7 days which is today,,,
My question?..Is it wise to go back and take the Doxiproct plus and see if the swelling will go down more or do I take the other medication ,,, I really don't want any surgery down there ! Can I take anything else for it??

Hi azulthunder,
The swelling in that area could be  prolapsed or  thrombosed hemorrhoids, sentinel pile  or an abscess.

Since there is no pain, it could be hemorrhoids or sentinel pile. Since your doctor said he does not find anything abnormal other than thrombosis, I would suggest you to continue with Doxiproct plus.
