J-POUCH SURGERY LEAKAGE

Hello,
My husband has suffered with colits for 12 years. His last colonoscopy showed precancerous massing and it was recommended he have restorative proctocolonectomy, He had the surgery Feb 7th and did very well. After 7 weeks he began running a fever and having back pain. After a CAT scan they found a small leak at the top of the J. After 5 days in the hospital clearing up the infection, he had a second surgery to reapir the leak. After 12 days he ahd a barium scan, only to find there is still a leak. The treatment plan now is to have him take Flagyl nad have another scan in 4 weeks. They also left in a drain after the second surgery. My question is, can a leak of this type really heal itself? His gastro Dr. and hos surgeon both feel it will and if not in a reasonable amount of time the surgeon plans to put in a colostomy bag until the area completely heals. No one seems to know why this area isn;t healing. There was a history of prednisone use with the colits flare-ups, but he had been off for 4 months prior to surgery. We did do a lot of research on the surgeon we chose and found he studied with the Doctor who preformed the first J-pouch surgery, in fact, he assisted in it. I feel the Dr.is very capable, but my husband is questioning whether he should have other opinions before another surgery if that is what it comes to. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Hi,
Whatever has been done so far is in the correct lines of treatment.
I would suggest you to follow your doctor's advice.
