Severe Headaches

by livelovelife, Apr 30, 2008 10:40PM
I have always had very severe headaches. There has been countless times where it will hurt to the point that all i can do is lay there and cry and it makes me nauseus. These come on unexpectadly and usually the pain moves from the front of my head to the sides. This pain never really hurts all over, usually just in one certain spot horribly bad. The past week or so I have had this aching pain in my head, behind my eyes and nose and it feels like something is pressing from the inside of my face. Earlier today I got a very sharp pain that felt like somebody stabbed me in the brain for about .5 seconds. Any ideas what these could be? Just migraines, or something more.

oh yes, and tylenol and migraine pills, and also other over the counter meds do not work. i have also tried tylenol with codeine and this does not seem to help either.

Hi.

Have you had these types of headaches before or is this a sudden and recent onset headache?

I suggest that you have a consult with an ENT specialist. Firstly, conditions that may be causing the headaches need to be identified and ruled out first before a diagnosis of a migraine and tension headaches be given. Sinus problems may present with a heavy pain over the forehead. Eye problems may also present similarly. Involvement of these structures need to be excluded first.

Watch out for any warning signs like vomiting, loss of balance, weakness and increase in pain severity.

Do you have any history of allergies ?

I have had severe headaches for as long as i can remeber but i always tried over the counter drugs and for awhile they worked. recently they do not help when i get these headaches. Migraines run in my family, my mother father and brother all get them.

the last week or so i have had more of a sinus headache with the behind the nose/eye region pressure, which i have never had before, but it goes off and on. I think this is completely different then my usual headaches, but i have just gotten a medicine that seems to make this better.

i have no history of allergies.
