Bumps Rapidly Disappearing?

by Most_Papular, Apr 30, 2008 10:44PM
Today is the 30th of April (Wednesday).  Last Friday, I felt an itch at the opening of my vagina.  I got a mirror and a flashlight and discovered something that looked like a pimple. Further inspection yielded the discovery of irregular skin surface below the opening of my vagina (still on the mucosa). Concerned, I went to the doctor.  I was told that I have venereal warts.  I was upset, of course.

Tuesday, I went to the Free Clinic and was examined, hoping for treatment.  I was told upon further examination that there were indeed warts inside the canal of my vagina and that treatment there would not be possible.  I was referred to the University Hospital.  It may take over a month for me to get in there and have these properly seen to.

Now, today I have inspected the original spot that prompted me to go to the doctor in the first place and the skin is as smooth as it ever was. If I stretch the skin that had appeared to be irregular in the surface, I find that there is no irregularity to the skin at all.  This has all occurred in less than a week.

Don't get me wrong.  I still plan to follow up on treatment and to abstain from sex in the meantime, but is there any way that I was having a skin irritation other than warts?  How would it be possible for warts to begin clearing up in less than a week? Two medical professionals seemed to have little doubt that warts were what they were looking at.

No biopsy was done.  Is it possible that this is some sort of fungus or bacterial infection or something? I am uninsured and looking for answers.  Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

Most qualified medical professionals do not misdiagnose or confuse warts with other conditions.  Of course, it sometimes happens though.  HPV infection also clears rapidly in some people, and sometimes warts will resolve without any medical treatment.

Biopsies aren't typically done in routine genital warts cases unless there is any confusion in the provider's mind as to what the bumps are.  And internal vaginal warts indeed can be treated, though some providers elect not to treat them.
