Hi, I am ashamed to say that i recently got very drunk in hongkong and had unprotected vaginal sex with a prostitute who was from Tanzania working the street red light area in hongkong on a 2 week holiday visa. I am now terriefied as i also only 5 months ago caught Genital herpes and although i wasnt shedding or suffering symptoms at the time, have heard that this can increase the chances of catching HIV by 5 times. I guess i am asking given my situation what my odds are of catching HIV? I no that normally it is like 1/1000 but given my stupid situation i am guessing they are alot worse and if so how worse? Please help as i am going nuts right now. I also noticed a small spot only 5 days after which i am now sure is a wart which i have caught from her. Does this mean that the HIV would also have very likely attached itself to the infected area that infected me and i have been infected with both HIV and HPV together. I have read that HIV attaches itself to the other active viruses like HPV so would this mean i more than likely have got HIV also? And if so how likely?? please help me im losin the plot!!!

you had unprotected sex and will need to test.  a test at 6-8 weeks will give you a good indication of the final result...but only a test at 3 months is conclusive.

Thanks Lizzie Lou and i do intend to test in that time, at the moment im trying to find out what my odds are to try and help with anxiety. My fear is that I have been coinfected as I definately have caught HPV from her and with 60% of their population having HIV saying she has it then is it highly likely that The HIV would attach to the HPV infection and Co Infect me??? And if so what are the chances of this??

SO...in five hours you have gone from having a small spot to definitely catching hpv from her.  another internet doctor here??????

hopefully someone will come on and give you numbers...i dont play the odds game.  either you were infected or you werent.  only a test will tell...regardless.

my son didnt do so well with those numbers that ppl will spout out for you...so in the long run...what do they mean?
