hi there i have a question my 9 year old daughter has some tics started a year ago she started out blinking a lot then that went away then she would turl her hair so much it was falling out in that spot.then she would shake her head. she still does this off and on she also takes things in her hand and touches her top of her head with them it can be a pencill to a marker to food she is eating. she also rubs her chin on her desk at school and on the table at home even on the arm of the wodden chair or bed post. she will take her elbow and bang it on the table a few times. she makes a humming noise kinda when she is relaxed watching tv or laying in bed onley when she is relaxed. is this tourettes or a sensory disorder? she has been dianosed with adhd and touretts when she was 4 but now i beleive some of her tics are caused from the adhd medacation the stimulent cause she onley started 2 years ago when the dr was trying different medacations cause none of them seem to work she has lots of energy and has a hard time focusing she is very conpulsive. she is delayed she has been developmental delayed since pree school. she also likes to lisen to her tv loud and when she lisens to her music it has to be loud her voice is loud to when she talks.if any one has any info please to send me amessage or comment

we have just met with a child adolescent psychiatrist and he thinks she may have a developmental delay disorder and possible she may have asperger syndrome. we have been through a lot in the past few years trying to find out what our daughter has and the right dianosing.

I can only suggest that you work with your psychiatrist to determine a differential diagnosis.  A child and adolescent psychiatrist is probably the best professional to evaluate and separate the effects of any neurological problems versus the direct or side effects of medication.  Particularly since your daughter has been on a number of medications at a relatively young age, you may want to discuss with the psychiatrist getting an assessment or consultation from a psychopharmacologist who specializes in children.  Certainly some of eth other behaviors that you mentioned could be indicative of a child with Tourette’s Disorder, but those same behaviors are also common in a variety of children with developmental disabilities.  Again, working with professionals who specialize in childhood disorders is your best bet.
