HPV and anal cancer for non-gay men

by ainger, May 01, 2008 10:04AM
Hi, i'm 19, non-gay, athletic male.

I'm pretty sure i'm HPV positive - i was dating a girl for year now and she tells me now she has HPV. I think i have something like warts - at least my groin skin is very irritable and itchy and i think it is also kinda red, not sure though.. i have this symptom like for a month now.

But my question is actually about cancer that HPV might generate. What are my chances to get an anal cancer, considering that i'm not gay? Have there ever been a non-gay man with an anal cancer? Should i go and get anal pap test and if yes - then where should i go, basically? I live in washington dc suburbs.

Thank you

Hpv has not been associated with anal or penile cancer. A good exam is recommended for you. Anal PAP smears are not done. So my advice is to see your local Doctor for a good exam and futher testing or treatment.Take care.

I am going to amend my above comment. Penile cancer has not PROven to be HPV related. That research is on going. Antibodies to HPV type 16 are found in 60 % of penile cancer cases. What this means we don`t know yet. And to let you know cancer of the penis is VERY rare, unlike cervical cancers women get. Take care.

I agree with Dallas's amended comment.  However, you really should get this checked.  You could have hemmorhoids or something.
