stomach pain

every morning I wake up with some throbing pain in the middle of my stomach from laying down.. I have to flip over numerous times before I finaly just wake up and go on with my day but the pain starts to fade as a stand up. does anyone know what this is.. I used to drink alot of alcohol and have been on pain meds for a couple of years... please any help will do
