Help!

by irock455, May 01, 2008 01:11PM
Hi;

I have always had normal pap smears & exams.  For as long as I can remember, I have experienced spotting several days after my menstrual cycle has ended.  It is very regular & light, but honestly, it is inconvenient.  When I was on the pill several years ago, this did not occur.  However, right now I don't wish to be on the pill.  I haven't asked my GP about this.  Also, my periods last almost 7 days.  Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

Hello,

You should see your GP to investigate the underlying cause of your irregular bleeding.  Sometimes irregular bleeding occurs from spontaneous changes to the menses related to age, hormonal changes (e.g., thyroid abnormalities), uterine polyps, and fibroids.  The way to treat this will depend upon the underlying cause.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
