Shunt replacement is an operation that usually entails a lot of risk and this may be one reason that any interventional surgery to replace or manipulate non-problematic shunts are generally avoided. Some of the urgent reasons for shunt revisions include the presence of infections (usually presenting with fever, changes in sensorium, etc) and shunt obstruction by whatever reason. It is also very hard to tell whether your neck pain has something to do with your shunt. I suggest you have this evaluated by your neurologist so that you can be evaluated properly.
Regards and God bless.
