Shy question about BD?

do any know why bd is forbidden after IVF embryo transfer?my RE in the instructions paper wrote that it is forbidden for 14 days after ET,idon't understand why,do any of u know why?till when 'll it b forbidden? is it a must to b restricted to this or can b broken once :-),shy about asking in this but can't find any one closer to me than u girls in here to ask,thanks a bunch.

After the IVF procedure, how long must we wait to have intercourse?
A: Although a definite time of abstinence to avoid damage to the pre-embryo has not been determined, most experts recommend abstinence for two to three weeks. Theoretically, the uterine contractions associated with orgasm could interfere with the early stages of implantation. However, intercourse the night before pre-embryo transfer is acceptable. Some physicians will advise intercourse before transfer as they feel that this will improve the chances of a pregnancy.

thanks for your useful information but iam wondering ,u said contractions of orgasm interfer with implantation but implantation don't take 14 days after ET,it is the next 3-4days of transfer,am i right or what?

My guess, after reading that from a RE's website, is that your uterus will react to orgasms during the BD, making it not the greatest enviroment for implantation to happen. Perhaps it alters the uterus somehow or may delay the egg from making its way to the uterus????  Not sure....But this is just my interperation of the above and believe me Im no MD.

Do you have a nurse at the RE that you can talk to?  My RE assigns a nurse to each one of us and I ask her so many questions, Im surprised she still smiles when she sees me!

I've never done IVF, but I've also heard that it's best to abstain until you take a pregnancy test. I've even read that if it the pregnancy test is positive, they prefer that you wait until you hit 12 weeks before having intercourse again.

till 12 week! soooooo many my dears but what to do having a baby deserve more than this,thanks for your help girls&have nothing except waiting,my test will b after 3 days,ask god for me girls,iam v.afraid.

hi there...i am not sure of the answer to this but i try to abstain for 10-14 days even after iui.

I have also heard that you need to wait till the ultrasound before resuming BDing!  CONGRATS!!!!! WONDERFUL news!!! so excited for you!!! YEEEAA! : )
