Urinary Problem

Hello Dr. first and fore most, thank you ever so much for this fantastic web site! Keep up the good work! I have a 5 yr old weimaraner female who has difficulty with her bladder. For some reason as a puppy I could remember her keeping from urinating for quite some lengthy period of time up to 10 hours. Now as a maturing dog she can't seem to hold it for more than 4 to 6 hours. Example: I am now required to stay up every night until at least 12 am in order to keep her from urinating on the floor when I wake up at 6 am. I take her water dish away every night around 7pm and return it to her by 7am for the remainder of the day. I have a weimaraner rescue dog as well who's about 8 yrs in age who can seem to hold going to the washroom for camel's length in time. Could you recommend something that might help her not to urinate in front of my bedroom door just before leading her outside? Thank you Dr!

Actually, the vet here at Med Help is on a different board - "Ask a Vet (Pet Health)".

In my opinion, your dog likely has a bladder or urinary tract infection of some kind.  These infections often result in urine accidents and can be easily treated with antibiotics.  You really need to take her in to the vet, and bring a urine sample along with you.
