HPV/genital warts...I'm confused HELP

by WORRIED23397, May 02, 2008 02:33PM
My bf has 2 tiny white bumps on his penis they just look like pimples. They don't itch, burn, etc. They've been there for about a week or 2 now with absolutely no change size, color etc. The doc said he has gential warts but he didn't really look & seemed kind of irratated that my bf asked him about them because that was not what his inital visit was for. He even said that to him. If that is the case that means I would have HPV to right? How is it possible for me to have HPV when I was just at the GYN in March for my annual pap & everything came back normal. I do not have any visible warts & have had no other issues at all. I don't want to lose my bf over this but I'm very confused as to how this happened in the first place. It doesn't look like any of the pictures I have seen of genital warts. He is going Monday for a 2nd opinion. I can't get in to my dr until Tuesday but they said if I'm not showing any symptoms (which I'm not) that they won't even run the HPV test. So I don't know how I'm supposed to find out for sure I have it or not. Could it be anything else? Could the doc been wrong??

Sure the doc could be wrong.  The only way to know is for your bf to have the bumps biopsied (not as bad as it sounds lol).

If you have been recently exposed to HPV, it might not show up on an HPV test yet, so I can see why they wouldn't do any testing.

I think you both just need to breathe and wait and see what the other doc says.  Have your bf insist on a biopsy.

Why would this cause you to lose your bf?  HPV is so common - about 80% of people will have it in their lifetimes - and if you don't get it now, from him, you might from someone else.

If he does have HPV, then you have already been exposed.  Whether you develop symptoms or not - no one can know now.

Hang in there,

AJ
