My 8 years daughter has nystagmus with refraction error since she was 2 months old.She used glasses  with OD 2.75-2 LSD 1.5-2 when she was 3 years and now she wears  OD:3.25-2 /SD 1.5-2 .I want to know if surgery can help her to keep his head normal and can read without glass. She turns her head up (near 40 degrees).

There is surgery that can adjust the extraocular muscles to try to move the "null point" to a more central location.  Often people with certain types of nystagmus have a point where if they turn their eyes just right - the nystagmus decreases.  Unfortunately it is often when looking way off to the side so it can be difficult to read this way and the patients can get tired of looking that way and it can cause some awkwardness.  So the bottom line is to see a board-certified pediatric ophthalmologist to discuss these things with.  He or she will be much better able to advise you on this issue.
