my husband has pain and stiffness from a stroke , and has been on several different medications that have not helped. one is cymbalta,(which would not allow him to sleep). Now he is taking nortryptyline 20mg at bedtime. not change. Is there any solution to this syndrome? These anti depressives do not help at all!

I am on the same medications after the stroke i had 2 yrs ago. I am in severe pain as well. the only thing that has helped has been vicodin. I take 2 500mg at a time, two or three times a day. good luck to you and your husband.

Is there any releif for this?
My husband has tried cymbalta, perscribed by his neurologist. It did not allow him to sleep, so they perscribed different anti depressive drug that does not seem to be helping either. His symptoms are stiffness and muscle tightness only on the affected side. He says that it feels like a tight rubberband around his shoulder and arm. No pain in his leg,but stiffness.

The night he had this stroke, the symptoms were so slight. I called 911- the paramedics checked his blood pressure, his blood sugar, heart and said everything was normal.
He stayed home. Went to work the next morning(operating a Bulldozer), he called me at noon and said he was having a little trouble walking. After being admitted to the hospital with a stroke , he was also diagnosed with  high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes, as well as high coleserol. He is on medication for all of this. I am wondering is this cause, or affect?,and is there any releif for the stiffness. He is back to work full time, but it is a struggle. He is 76 .

Please respond!

I also take vicodin for the pain and stiffness on my entire right side. I also take tramadol, which takes the edge of the pain when I am working. Right now I only take vicodin at night. God bless...
