Flakly eyelids and itchy eyes after using acne medicine

by ukhan1, May 02, 2008 07:41PM
I wonder  if u can help. I  am 27 yrs old and finally decided to go see a dermatologist for my very mild adult acne. He prescribed me differin, clindoxyl (Clindamycin and benzyl peroxide) and neo medrol two weeks ago. Since then i use differin every day, clindoyxl every other day and neo medrol i have only used twice. Acne treatment is going fine.
But 5 day into the treatment my eyelids became swollen and flaky. Furthermore, my eyes are red and extremely itchy. I have tried lubricating drops and gels ( i have had a history of dry eyes) . But nothing helps. I have also tried lid cleansing with lid care.
Any advice?
Perhaps i accidentally got one of the acne medicines near my eye.
The itchiness is almost unbearable.
I willing be seeing an opthamologist in a little over a week. Could you suggest something that would help in the meantime. Some one told me to apply vasoline.

I think you must have gotten the meds too close to the eyes.  See ophthalmologist as soon as possible.  Try some lubricating ointments like refresh pm on the eyelid skin.  Vaseline probably wouldn't harm you.  You may need a prescription ointment.  Sorry, but my best advice is to see ophthalmologist right away.
