White blood cells in urine

by kidneybladder, May 02, 2008 10:01PM
I am a 36 yr old female 2 childbirths oldest kid is 7yrs old.  I have bladder and kidney pain and my doctors thought I had an infection, but all cultures for my pap and urine came back no growth so they said the tests were negative. They did find blood in my urine and excessive white blood cells in my urine and pap tests. I am still having aching kidneys and sometimes sharp pain in my bladder area. I am not sure what to do next, do I start looking for a good urologist?  If there is no bacteria infection, what are some other possiblities?  I do have pain w/intercourse. I am always fatigued and can sleep 12-18 hours a day easy. Pain in my urethra area while just sitting. It doesn't hurt more to urinate, however I need to frequently and with much more urgency than usual.  Thanks for the help.

Hello,

I am kind of dealing with the same issue right now. My urine was just sent for a culture today but they did find blood in my urine. I am going to the bathroom approximately every 2 hours as well as having to go to the bathroom during the night as well several times along with right-sided pain near my kidney. I would ask your doctor to be sent for an abdominal ultrasound. You could quite possibly have kidney stones. I mean, I'm no expert but from what I have been reading, it is one of the only urinary issues that isn't accompanied with a fever. If you don't in fact have a fever than I would definitely ask your doctor to be sent for an ultrasound. It's just a suggestion, I have no idea if I'm right at all but I know I had my ultrasound today and the ultrasound tech was asking me questions about blood work and a urine sample after looking at my right kidney. I would definitely look into that.
I hope they figure out what is wrong! Good luck!

take care,

steph
