This forum is limited to prevention of HIV and to safe sex in general. If you believe you might have been exposed to HIV and want help to judge your risk, would like advice about HIV testing, or have questions about the effectiveness of condoms or the risks associated with specific sexual practices, this is the site for you.

IMPORTANT

No questions will be accepted on the treatment of HIV/AIDS or its complications, viral load, and similar topics. If you have questions about a specific STD other than HIV/AIDS, please visit the STD Forum. Questions that do not pertain to the above topics will be removed from the forum.

If you have not done so, please review other threads in our archives for questions similar to yours and Dr. Handsfield's replies. Questions that duplicate other frequent ones, for which abundant replies exist, and that have little educational value for other forum users, will be DELETED WITHOUT RESPONSE. YOUR PAYMENT WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. The most common examples of such questions are those about low risk exposures to HIV, such as oral sex, condom- protected intercourse hand-to-genital exposure, and nonsexual contact with possibly infected blood or body fluids as well as symptoms of early HIV infection.

Could it be Herpes, stange symptoms.

Last time I had sex with someone was in early December. Immediately after I had sex with her I had this itch all over my scrotum. It has been like this for almost a little more than 5 months now.
I had nothing visible for about four months, just an itch.

And about three weeks ago I noticed a cluster that looks like the ones in the herpes photos. It is under my penis not on the head but next to the little skin where it looks stitched. They are VERY tiny about 10 tiny bumps and hard to see if my penis is not dry. The place where they are at is not very reddish. They've been there unchanged for these past three weeks.

About a week ago I went to the doctor for a general checkup I only told him that I had a itch all over my groin area he gave it a wince not even a close look and said it was a fungus and prescribed me cromatizole for the jock itch. I also paid for a blood and urine test nothing STD specific (I came up healthy).

I've used the cream for two weeks now and I haven't gotten any better the itch has gotten worse actually. But I’ve been told that fungus takes a while to heal. Also I've noticed a really fishy smell. that's been there for like 2 months. The itch sometimes gets around my anus or on my butt cheek. But the main itch/burn is around the base of the penis in my scrotum. Sometimes my penis head itches too where that cluster is. But mainly its just like a burn all over my groin area. And when it feels like it it itches in one little spot.

What do you think? Is that tiny little cluster really supposed to be there that long ?

Yes, wrong forum -- but apparently an honest mistake.  Don't worry about it.

Reacting to the title you selected, before I read the question itself:  herpes rarely causes "strange symptoms".  When herpes isn't classical, it is generally because symptoms are entirely absent, or the the symptoms are typical but mild.  If your question doesn't describe genital blisters/sores, I doubt you have herpes.

Now I have read the question.  Guess what?  Your symptoms do not suggest herpes at all.  And even a quick glance at your genital area probably was suffcient for a provider to accurately diagnose the more likely cause of such symptoms, like fungal infection.  Further, no STD, including herpes, can start to cause symptoms "immediately" after catching it; 2-3 days is the minimum.  And herpes symptoms never persist for weeks or months; it just doesn't happen.

Continue to work with your provider about the cause and treatment of your symptoms -- or if uncertain about his or her expertise, consider seeing a dermatologist.  But put herpes out of your mind.  No chance.

Best wishes--  HHH, MD
