I have been in hosp. for 4 months, perforated duodenum during gall bladder surgery.  caused severe sepsis. Now have 6 drains to collect the fluid and it is so thick, it is not coming out well. I have CT scan and drain check twice a week. Anyone out there dealt with this...?  I am 32 years old female and would love to have a support group around the seattle area..I do not know how long I will be in hospital..I am very weak and have to have physical rehab when I am stronger. Currently on  TPN feeding and IV antibiotics..kidneys, white blood cell, lungs, heart are all OK now.  Just wondering if anyone out there is living with drains and had this similar condition.

God bless you.  I had my GB removed on 4.14.08 and had a second bile duct that they did not know about.  Apparently very rare (called a lushka).  When they removed the GB this duct began leaking bile into my cavity and I was in pain for a week and half until they found it.  They tell me now that my body will soak up the bile eventually but I am still in pain.  Back and side feel like stabbing knife.  White cells are ok.  Please let me know what you find out.  I am over my CT scans and seem to be on the mend.  Hope you get some relief soon.  My doctors tell me there is no kind of flush to rid your  body of the bile, it just takes time.  Apparently you had much more bile than me.  Please give me more details and keep me posted.  I will pray for you.
