by Tarcitano, May 03, 2008 10:21AM
I'm a 17 y/o male and i had ACL reconstruction on my left knee in november of 2007. I now running about 3-4 times a week for about 7 miles. however i'm having some pain in my knee( probably normal) and my left hip seems to "pop" out when i am walking throughout the day. is there something i should be/should not be doing? is weight training a good idea?  i have serious aspirations to play soccer in college and beyond however i am not in the financial sitiuation for a personal trainer etc. any suggestions?

Hello Dear,
The pooping knee may be due to Discoid meniscus - an abnormally shaped meniscus in the knee joint.
Does your hip pop out or your knee?
The discoid meniscus can cause problems, usually a popping sensation with pain over the outside part of the knee joint.
Conservative treatment consisting of exercises and stretching is recommended. If these treatments do not relieve the symptoms, arthroscopic surgery on the discoid meniscus would be helpful.
Best.
Take care
