A simple answer would be: Yes, it can cause withdraw symptoms. Especially after a year. Maybe someone else will have more input on this than I can offer. You should talk to your Dr about getting off safely.

Please consult with your doctor about a program to VERY slowly withdraw from XanaxXanax Xanax xr! I can't emphasize that enough! If your doctor tells you to just stop, run, do NOT walk, to another doctor, one who understands about benzo w/d! Or talk to your local pharmacist. They are doctors of pharmacology and can tell you how you should w/d.
One other thing you can do, just so you get a very clearClear by design Clear eyes Clear eyes acr Clear eyes clr picture of what you are about to embark on...........at the top of this page, on the right, is a little box that says "Search MedHelp." Type in "Ryan/XanaxXanax Xanax xr." Ryan is our local pharmacy guru and when you hit the search button, it will put up all the posts Ryan has written that have anything to do with XanaxXanax Xanax xr. Read all of them very carefully. It's probably going to scare you. But you need to know this before you see your doctor. In fact, once you find Ryans taper program, you might want to print it out and take it with you to your doctor. If he disagrees with it, refer backBack pain - low Back strain treatment to the "run away" portion of this post! If you look around on this forum, you will find many, many people struggling with their w/d from this med. Hi there! Greenlydia gave you a great suggestion about searching Medhelp, but when I put in Ryan/XanaxXanax Xanax xr, I only got 2 posts so I tried entering it as XanaxXanax Xanax xr/Ryan and came up with lots more posts so try it that way.

You didn't mention your dosage of xanaxXanax Xanax xr that you've been taking for this past year?
I hope that you understand how important it is to consult your Dr. before starting a tapering schedule....everyone has given you great advice...
Good luck....you can wean off of xanaxXanax Xanax xr successfully. I've been weaning off of it since Oct. 07, and I'm almost xanaxXanax Xanax xr free!!
