Blood pressure question, Angina pain, and meds

Hi , I recently was put on Nitoquick after what looks like an apparent heart attack . i am 54 years old, suffer from chronic back pain, am on methadone, have high cholesterol, have migraines , am about 25 pds overweight since hurting my back and have a family history of heart disease.
My dr. had me do a med induced Stress test since I have trouble exercising because of my back. I had the resting EKG, when put under a gamma camera with a radioactive dye injected into a IV so they could trace it under the camera. Then the dr. injected the med to stimulate my heart, and after the repeat EKG I was placed under the gamma camera again. I will get the results of my tests this comming week.
The problem I am having now is related to my blood pressure and the meds I take for it. Atetnol. ON rising my blood pressure is in the range of 126/66, this was about 10;00 a.m, About 5;00 p.m, I began experinecing skipped beats, pounding in my chest, and I took my blood pressure several times. The readings were, 144/85 pulse 44, ( I have allways had a low or very good heart rate, 40's-50's average.) 137/87 pulse 43, 132/94 pulse 46, 140/111 pulse 52, and 145/90 pulse 40. I had tingling on the corner of my lips, and my chest felt funny. I could hear my own heartbeat, so I decided to take the Atetenol. I broke the 50 mg tablet, ( dr. okay'ed for me to do that years ago when first prescribed) and when I took a repeat blood pressure an hour later, it was;121/68 p 38.
The heart palpatations and pounding have decreased, but with the low heart rate I already have, I am afraid of taking more blood pressure meds, this is one reason I only take a half tablet at a time. Untill I had this heart or agina problem, my blood pressure after taking a half tablet would drop to as low as 80/40 and I didnt think it was safe for it to drop any lower.
If it wasn't for the heart problems and the way it was making me feel, I wouldn't have taken the Atetnol, even though the dr. wants me to take one a day. I was getting fearful the way it made me feel. It reminded me of the way I felt before I had my apparent heart attack a few weeks ago. I did not want to take any chances and thought with my blood pressure in the range it was, esp. the reading that was 140/111, I didn't like the way that looked or felt. I didn't know if I should take a chance and let it climb any higher.
Is it normal for blood pressure to swing so eraratic like this or is this a symtom of heart problems ? Was there a chance that my blood pressure was going to get any higher? With my heart rate in the low 40's already, I don't know what else I should do? Do you have any suggestions? Will the stress test I had give any clues to possible problems that I have and why my heart rate is so slow? Thanks for any suggestions, I dont know what else to do till I see the dr. fluffypurrcat
