stabbing eye pain - diabetic realted?

by kartwheel, May 04, 2008 05:58AM
My husband is experiecing very bad stabbing pais in the backs of his eyes (left eye slightly worse). He describes it as if someone is stabbing needles into the back of his eyes with a quick jab then a slower pain like when you give blood but a lot higher up the pain scale. It seems to be pretty much constant and we can't detect when it is worse, although if I had to say I would guess evenings maybe. He is diabetic and has had soem slight abnomalities detected in the back of his eyes at his last check up a while ago. Obviously this is worrying him (and me) sick. He feels like he could just suddenly be plunged into darkness at anytime and I urgently need some advice. He has an appointment with the eye clinic again in a couple of weeks but I don't think we can hold out till then, and to be honest he never comes away with any straight answers. PLEASE HELP!!!

Then call the eye clinic tomorrow morning, relay what you've said here and ask for an emergency exam Monday.
