kidney problem

I guess I should tell the whole story here -- I'll try and make it short --I am 56 yrs old woman- I am a diabetic - have high cholesteral- and restless leg syndrome -I have been going to the doctor because of being a dibetic but also complained about losing weight and not trying - I eat what I want when I want - but I have lost 32 lbs - years ago I had colon cancer surgery -   about six months ago i started have really loose bowels -and loved it - but the doc wanted me to have colonoscopy - so I did on March 27th - they found my intestines were twisted and could only do 97% of my intestine because there wasent enough scope to go all the way - also had scare tissue and polips -after that on the 30th I had to go to ER because I was urinating blood and puss had lots of pain - and back pain too- they said I had bladder infection -- I had no burning or itching just alot of pain - I took all my antibiotics but still had pressure down there - started to have pain again - went to doctor and had another bladder infection - took all my meds again - so he ordered a CT Scan of my abdomin and pelvic -well friday the docs office called and said I had a lesion on my kidneys - and could be cancer - now is a lesion the same thing as a tumor or cyst? can anyone answer that one - My mother lost a kidney to cancer and a brother of mine lost a kidney too -- can it run in family? what i posted before are the impression of what the radioligest found - can any one tell me what it all means -

Hi Debby,

As a BC survivor, I have learned that lesion often refers to being a tumor/mass.

I too had a ct scan and mine says I have a cystic lesion in the posterolateral panchyma of the mid right kidney..haven't a clue what the heck that means...but I do not like the word lesion in the diagnoses.

Do you live near a mayoclinic? Or call a specialist and get some answers, that is what these reports are about..

good luck!!

Last Friday I had another ultrasound. It states that they found a new cystic focus and is identified measuring 17 x 14 x 20 mm. Then it states is cannot be cleared of internal echoes. They identified it as a cyst or lesion. I read on the web that certain types of cysts can be cancerous. I have NO idea what they mean by "cleared of internal echoes".  Does anyone know?
I do know that leasions can be benign and it can be cancerous. These wordings scare the dickens out of me. I called my doctor for him to explain this to me but once again....He's on vacation. So now I have to wait until he gets back. He'll be boggled down with so many call backs and who knows when he'll call me.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
