Does the presence of Herpes antibodies means I can spread Herpes?

by mark555, May 04, 2008 01:54PM
If a blood test has shown the presence of Herpes antibodies in my system, yet I've never shown any obvious symptoms, does this mean I have Herpes? And that I can spread it to my partner?

From the information I've found on the web, it suggests that I do have Herpes, though my immune system was able to fend it off. But what I have not been able to find is whether or not I would be able to infect my partner as well.

Thanks in advance for your help!

No, if you have antibodies, you have herpes.  While there are some diseases/infections that a positive antibody test just means that you have been exposed, herpes isn't one of those infections.

You are able to transmit herpes to someone else.

For more information, check out the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com and this article - http://www.herpes.com/hsv1-2.html
