Can I use air travel?

by Dan_Hardy, May 04, 2008 06:05PM
I was in an auto accident, and after being in the hospital bed ridden for a couple of days I developed blood clots.  I didn't find out until a week later when I was going back to the emergency room.  They started Heparin shots and Warfarin immediately, and now I am home stable but still on Warfarin for a minimum of 6 months.  Four weeks ago, my father died and my family doctor said I should not fly on an airplane.  So, I didn't go.  Two days ago, I went to see a Pulmonologist specialist and he said as long as I was still on Warfarin (blood thinner) that there was no problem flying.  Is it safe to fly if there are possibly still blood clots in my legs and lungs?
