hi doctor!.......... my boyfriend was diagnosed of having valvular heart disease, mild anterior valve leaflet,prolapse tricuspid regurgitation this month after his 2d echo. i would like to know  if it is related to his diabetes type 1 and he inject insulin for ten years already. how did he get this disease? is it life threatening? can this be cure at his age of 27? thnx a lot>>...

MVP is usually congenital and not considered midically significant.  Many people go through life iwth minor leakage and mitral valve prolapse.  Its not life threatening, and diabetes is a separate issue.
