tethered cord, spinabifda, diasotmatamylea (sp)

I have developed tightness and pain in my left hamstring and have difficulty bending over on my left side. Also weakensess on my left leg on inclines and walking up stairs. Occaisionally I get muscle spasms in my foot (left) . Pain also when I stand (left foot) when I stand after sitting for a long period,
The neurosurgeon recommended that surgery to unteher the cord not be done unless the symptons worsen.. more pain, incontenance( whigch i dont have)

he didnt indicate that medications would be of any help. He did recommednd excercise (alking, swimming, biking) as providing some benefit?
Any comments? Anything you might recommend that might help? (current paind level 5 to 6)

Thanks

If you are bothered by symptoms and you do have a tethered cord, then microsurgical release is an option. Speak to your neurosurgeon again.
