blood clot

by campbell84, May 05, 2008 01:55PM
Lately, I have had severe cramps in my legs . I am afraid that I may have dvt but I am not sure since I am pregnant and it may just be pregnancy cramps. I have had several other pains in the last couple months such as chest pain, arm pain, and abdominal pain. I have checked it out at the hospital several times but they never find anything. I had a d-dimer test done to see if I may have a blood clot just a month ago but it was negative. Is the test still good today even though it was taken a month ago?

Hello,

If you are still having symptoms talk to your doctor about having a repeat evaluation.  In pregnancy a d-dimer is elevated and therefore not a reliable test.  Venous dopplers of the lower extremities might be helpful.  Your doctor should determine any further evaluation.
