INSECT BITE ON THE EYEBALL

by LS1023, May 05, 2008 09:44PM
Hello Web Md,
A mosquito flew into my husbands eye. I made contact with the white portion o f the eye
He stated it feels like a eyelash hair is on the eye. He also stated he saw it fly into the eye.

We applied ice off and on. It remains red. I am concerned about the almost dime size transparant like
sack where it made contct. It almost appears like a cleare bubble was on the eye. It does not protrude
nor irritate his vision. Could this sack like bubble be a concern?

Thank  you
LS

That sac is swelling of the conjunctiva called chemosis. It's like a mini-hive.  Rinse the eye good with artifical tears or even better eye irrigation fluid which you can get at any drug store. Use some cold compresses.  If the eye doesn't feel right, look good or vision is a problem then see an Eye MD tomorrow. Find one at www.aao.org
