Excercise and pain management

by Musically, May 06, 2008 06:40AM
Hi everyone. I am into my 7th week since my abdominal hysterectomy with the removal of right ovary. Am worry about early menopause coz my mom was like godzilla when she had hers!!!! dont want to tear my house down with the same symptoms..lol
Anyone can advise on when the pain internally will go away, especially on the right side and what kind of excercise is recommend during this period of time.

I felt like a wadded up rag being bounced around in a bag lady's bag for a good 8 to 10 weeks after my hyst.  Right now, I wouldn't do more that some walking until you feel like your old self again.

Since you still have one ovary, you shouldn't have to worry about menopause symptoms.  That one ovary will put out the hormones you need until your normal time to hit menopause.  My mom was godzilla too!  I started taking the antidepressant, lexapro, for an unrelated problem, and discovered all my PMS symptoms and menopausal craziness went away like it never existed.  Something to keep in mind for future reference if you start having difficulties.  :-)

Its best to listen to your body. If you are tired, rest.if you feel like going for a walk do that....take it easy....you will soon start feeling better.  As far as symptoms of menopause, you should not have to worry about that...however having said that...you can go thru some hot flashes and mood swings a bit just from the stress of the surgery.  This is what I found out a week ago Tuesday  at my 12 week check up...as I still have my ovaries I wanted to know about hot flashes....and thats what he told me...he also said that would soon go back to normal....which in my case was a few here and there as I am post menopause age.  I started to feel much better around 9 weeks...I mean really good.....I hope you will too!
