Numbness - Loss of sensation

by ursraajk, May 06, 2008 07:03AM
Sir/madam,
For the past 1 year my wife has a problem of getting numbness in her legs, loss of balance. MRI and CT Scans were not clear. Due to a misinterpretation of a disc bulg , she was operated which had no impact on her problems.
Now a Neurosurgen has told it might be because of Ganglion problem. 15 Months back she had a chicken Pox attack and the doctor doubts if this could be the reason for the problem.
Kindly help us out in finding what these symptoms convey? whether its curable or not if there is a viral infection in the Ganglion.

Many Thanks,
Ursraajk

Hi there.

It will be very hard to ascertain the cause of her problems with your descriptions.  Numbness and loss of balance can have several causes and we may be dealing with a demyelinating condition (Like MS) that was not yet crystal clear at the time the scans were done.  I suggest that you discuss with your doctor regarding presenting your case in a multidisciplinary conference where they tackle difficult cases.  In this way, a number of doctors can ponder on the case and hopefully come up with a diagnosis and a good management plan.

Regards and I hope you and your doctors get to the bottom of this soon.
