New things found in recent MRI

by sunbeamin, May 06, 2008 09:27AM
I was originally diagnosed with a pituitary adenoma (prolactinoma) in 1995 which was pressing upon the optic nerve.  The mass was surgically removed and post-op MRI was clear.  Fast forward to 2004, new mass found, again on the pituitary measuring 1.8 x 1.5 x .9 cm.  Recent MRI (April 2008) shows the mass is stable measuring  1.5 x 1.5 x 1.0,  does not abut to the optic chasm, though does abut the carotid artery.  The MRI also shows evidence of small vessel ischemic disease.  The only info I am finding relates this new finding to hypertension or stroke.  Is there anything else that can be a contributing factor to ischemic disease?  I am 42 with typically normal to low blood pressure, well within my weight range and active.  I do have a follow up appoint coming, but would appreciate any insight.
