Sudden hearing problem

I just took a long drink of water with lots of gulps and shortly afterwards I got this strange sensation of blocked ears and sinuses and now, when people talk, or I talk, or the phone rings or any sound really - everything is distorted. Voices sound like Daleks and music sounds offkey! Does anyone have any idea what I have done? I was fine up until then. There is no pain as yet.
