When i was 26 my hair starting to fall out (and still is) and plus i has was diagnoses with arrthmia.  After that i started to go down hill every year since then.  I can feel my energy level give a little more each year since then. Until i ended up on a couch 24/7 with  a lot of weekness and zero energy.  When i was 36 my doc did feel my thyroid gland and said it was huge.  He did bet it was time i get on thyroid meds. before the tests were taken.  But when the tests came back my thyroid was normal.  Not even at the low or high end of the scale.  So out of desperation I started seeing Naturalpathic doc. She had me take a corisol saliva test for adrenal fatigue.  When the tests came back she said my cortisol was all over the place and started me on natural meds.  Which i do have to admitt i do feel 20% better but not 100%.  Im still exhausted, week, dry skin, hair falling out and the list goes on.  So, I started seeing a endrocrinologist.  He did say my thyroid gland has firmness to it (not large) and took more blood tests.  He took the T3, free-T4, and a new test ive never heard of anti TPO.  We are still waiting on the results.  Plus he wants a cortisol test done after ive been off of the meds the naturalpathic doc prescribed.  I did go off all of these meds and my 24/7 nausea and some vomiting is coming back.  My gastro doc said that and imbalace of cortisol can cuase nausea and vomiting. The gastro doc did take a corisol blood test and it was on the low end of the scale with in normal ranges.    He also took my FSH to see where i stand there.

My question is if these tests come back as normal even though i have all of these symptoms.  What can I do?  Most docs wont give you meds even though you have symptoms but your test came back as normal even a high or  low normal.  I cant take feeling like this for another 17 years.  Or until my thyroid decideds to make up its mind and match my symptoms.

The thyroid labs are very useful - if normal, the chance of a thyroid abnormality is low.  Would wait for the additional labs and see if there is any other thyroid problem.

Adrenal fatigue is simply chronic stress with a physiologic response -- treat the stress, minimize the expensive supplements.
