numbness/pain

by hopelessanxiety, May 07, 2008 03:33AM
Helllo I've been getting this pain and soreness on the left side of my neck and shoulder for the past couple of weeks,
I've been thinking it's from the way i sleep maybe ?

But today I recently got this pressure and numbness on the left side of my neck and cheek,
my neck feels sore like usual
and Im just wondering if this is due to me stressing about thing, overthinking maybe ?

Because I've been to the doctor for pains in my arm or my armpit area feeling of soreness and he said it was due to anxiety and Im jsut wondering if anyone here thinks that this numbness/pressure is due from it too?

thanks.

In my opinion, you did the right thing by going to the doctor to express your concerns.  If the doctor clears you from any medical reasons then the odds are extrememly in your favor that there is nothing medically wrong with you, especially given your age.  Anxiety can cause us to feel all sorts of symptoms especially when it is focused on our health.  Remember, as this cycle continues, oversensitization of our feelings becomes more frequent and misinterpretation of normal aches and pains can become catastrophic in our minds.

Aches, pains, pressures, and sorness can come from a myriad of causes, but they are almost always 'normal.'  You saw your doctor, which is great; continue to express your concerns and feelings with him/her.  Also, confronting the anxiety and learning about this cycle is the best 'cure' for this.  You have already realized that it is a problem and have taken a huge step in the right direction....keep us posted.
