Hi Doctor,
I hope you can help.
In November 2007 I had an experience with a sexual worker in London who I am sure was HIV + (She had a visible rash on her back and would not stop going on about moving to Canada due to the weather...Canada having awful weather and being the leaders in HIV care/prevention.
Anyway, we performed vaginal and anal sex (with condoms) and unprotected oral sex - both ways. I had also been going through a tooth whitening process at the time and fear that my gums may have been more sensative than usual.
I had a viral load test done at 7 weeks which came back less than 40 aswell as an Elisa 4th Gen test for HIV 1 and 2 which also came back negative.
I was at this time also diagnosed with clinical depression and anxiety and was put on very strong medication.
At 13 weeks I had another Elisa test done which was also negative.
Unfortunately I seem to be experiencing a lot of 'symptoms' which include - underarm rash, fatigue, occasional night sweats, swollen throat, digestion problems etc.
I guess my question is the same as all the others - do I need a 6 month test?
Secondly, this may seem like a stupid question but if the possible infection happened in London and I was tested in South Africa, could the 'London' strain of the disease not be picked up?
Anyway I trully regret what I did and it has pretty much ruined my life. I left a good job in London and came back to South Africa as I truly believe the bucket is about to be kicked.
Thanks for your time
B

Move on you don't have HIV.

You dont have HIV, you have multiple negative tests out to 13 weeks. Besides your exposure was protected. That coupled with negativer tests means you dont have HIV.

You trying to diagnose the woman based on a rash you saw coupled with your refusal to believe the tests shows an anxiety/hycondria problem. Go see a counselor to help you get over this.
