I'm a 26 year old female living in New Mexico.

I've been experiencing the following symptoms - I have been to many, many doctors - i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and yesterday I was placed on Thyroid medication - any thoughts on possible cushings?

-carpal tunnel syndrome
-eye floaters
-weight gain
-hair loss (replaced with strange coarse black hair)
-loss of concentration
-dizziness/nausea
-possible sleep apnea (one episode of 84 blood oxygen for 23 sec. while sleeping)-home sleep study
-lack of energy (difficult to exercise)
- tender to the touch
-loss of libido

-most blood tests appear normal for the most part: (see below)

*-CRP Quant (CRPHS) - 1.2 Mg/dL (inflammatory disorders normal range <0.8 mg/dL)
-HLA B-27 Antigen - Not Detected
-Vitamin D - 24 (low)
Free T4 = 1.0 (one month ago)
T3 = 319
reverse T3 = 22

- Western Blot Lyme - Reactive to 2 of the 10 (41kD and 58 kD) for IgG, and 1 of 3 (41kD) for IgM

- recent salivary cortisol test revealed reverse pattern - (i.e - low cortisol in the morning, high the rest of the day)
7-8 AM: 13 (lowest end of normal)

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

There clearly has been a variety of testing done with a revealing diagnosis.

Treating fibromyalgia can be difficult in some cases, as there is little data around effective treatments.

Some say that regular graduated exercise and biofeedback may help.  Newer studies suggest that the medication Lyrica may be an option.

Discussing these options with a neurologist or rheumatologist can be considered.  Other opinions can be obtained at a major academic medical center.

I have been having mostly the same symptoms as you.  I have also been to many doctors and still have no answers.  Let me know if you find anything out and good luck.

I realize there are medications for fibromyalgia - however, at my age with my health and previous activity level, it does not seem normal for me to have this condition without a good reason.  I'm more interested in treating my underlying conditions rather than masking the pain of the fibro.

I posted my question more for advice on what is really wrong with me, not just what i was already diagnosed with.

If you could take a second look it would be appreciated.

Thanks

I've been living with bizarre symptoms similar to what you describe since March 07 after having food poisoning and Guillain Barre Syndrome.

By any chance were you on a "quinolone" antibiotic any time prior or while these symptoms began?

My "symptoms" seem to point to an adverse reaction to Cipro.

No, i have not taken antibiotics in years, since i was little.  I am going to start on a no flour no sugar diet asap.  I have already given up aspartame and msg and am trying to get more sun due to my low levels of vitamin d - i am hopeful that this will turn everything around.

please read my new post.  we have almost ALL of the same symptoms!  i know my post is choppy... i only had 2000, characters, lol.  what was your health as a child like?  the dr's post was BS!  i have some interesting websites you may like the links for involving  a certain kind of bacteria, and something called the Marshall Protocol as a treatment for autoimmune diseases.  i also remember somewhere in my research finding something odd that causes a Vitamin D deficiency.  are you in a wooded area, and have you been tested for Lyme disease?  i'm at my witts end with how crappy i feel all the time.  i could really use someone to talk to.  if you wouldn't mind, and you have aim or myspace, send me a message with your info.  i'd really like someone i could talk to that feels the same way i do and is also my age.  i will send my info in the meantime.

Best Wishes

Get a mechanical prescription for sleep apnea. It's hard to know how many endocrinal controls depend on proper sleep. I know that apnea can't be good for attitude and concentration. I'm guessing that you don't always like the sun light.

The biggest recommendation for the Marshall Protocol would come from a sarcoidosis survivor of about ten years who was still actively promoting his work in 2007.
