My urine foams

by georgie18, May 07, 2008 12:32PM
Hi,

I'm 27 year old, I was treated for a UTI about 3 weeks ago. Just about a week ago I noticed my urine appeared to be foamy, not so much but enough to ask questions. I went back to the hospital and I did a urine analysis which came out negative for protein and others except for bilirubin which my doctor felt was nothing to worry about. I also did an ultrasound scan of my kidney which went well too and also took blood samples to test for kidney functionality and liver as well which also came out good. Earlier on while I was receiving treatment for the UTI with cipro I noticed my fingers and toes became a little numb and tingling. My palms also appeared red, though recently the redness appears to have cleared apart from a few small areas. My problem now is I seem to have exhausted tests yet my urine seems appears and I have been having nausea which seems more prominent after meals. My doctor sees all this as a reaction to the drug which will eventually clear up but I'm so confused (its been 2 weeks off cipro). please tell me what to do? I'm so worried.

If you got redness then you may have been allergic to cipro. That could cause you to get sick afterward. Have you talked to them since then? Two weeks you should have been better.

Sorry that your having problems.  Because of the redness in your palms, it does seem like an allergic reaction.  I don't know about the protein in your urine but I do have some insight for you as far as the tingling.

I am 29 and I took cipro about 8 months ago for a kidney infection and after I took it for a few days I developed pain, tingling and crawly feelings on my back.  I didn't realize that it could be from the cipro.  I finished the prescription and went on to develop severe back pain between my shoulder blades and tingling skin in my arms and legs.  I felt like my arms and legs had sunburn and it was hard to wear clothes sometimes.  I went to a neurologist and a rhumey.  The neurologist ruled out ms and other serious issues.  The rhumey couldn't find anything but said that it may be related to the cipro.  He said it could cause nerve irritation that could take a long time to heal. He told me to take vitamin b12 and omega 3, 6, & 9 fatty acid supplements because they help calm inflammation and regenerate nerves.  I took them for 3 months and finally I was back to normal.  I just wanted to let you know what happened to me.  I will never take cipro again!

Good luck.  Hope you feel better soon.
