Worst Mistake of My Life

by Nick114, May 07, 2008 12:50PM
Hello, I am a 25 year old male from North Carolina.  Approximately 5 days ago I had unprotected sex with a girl from my school.  We had vaginal intercourse and performed oral on one another.  Aside from being generally worried about STDs and HIV (this girl has had more than a few partners), I am specifically worried because I now have very swollen tonsils and a couple of white spots on them.  I have no other ailments besides the tonsils.  After some e-research, I have discovered that my symptoms are consistent with both HIV exposure and Gonnorhea.
What makes this stupid, drunken encounter worse is that I have a long-term girlfriend who, up until this point, I have never strayed from.  I absolutely refuse to expose her to any risk so I have to be very crafty over the next few weeks to avoid any sexual activity with her.
I would deeply appreciate any advice.
Thank you,
Scared and Ashamed

best bet is go to your doctor or if you know of a "blue bus" or free clinic. Heck, even some planned parenthoods can assist you with checking this out. Only if you are absolutely positive that you haven't had unprotected sex with your girl after this girl. Take the medicine. Wait 3 weeks and shut up about it. If you can't keep a secret, you better tell her and take the punishment like a man.

Most oral gonorrhea infections do not produce symptoms.

Most people in the US do not have HIV, and to say that because she has had "more than a few partners" doesn't matter.  Yes, your chances increase with multiple partners, but less than 1% of people in the US have HIV.

Also, the symptoms for early HIV don't happen in everyone, and when they do, they are VERY specific.  Yours are vague.

Just go test at your student health center, or Planned Parenthood, and put your mind at ease.
