Long Session of Pictures

by kimmyjam, May 07, 2008 01:07PM
I had been having quite a bit pelvic pain and excused it monthly as PCOD and dealt with it however this month it was unbearable and my OB who specialized in high risk pregs only referred me out to a GYN who sent me for a Transvag u/s and a abdominal CT because I was also having blood in my stools on 2 occasions (not straining). but only when this pressure was present in my pelvis. Also, I also began spotting around the time my cysts would usually burst but the pain has not subsided. My concern is the length of time and the number of films the technician took while filming the ultrasound there were 55 pictures recorded. Is this normal? I don't see the doctor till next week.

Hi There,
I am not sure what an average number of pictures for ultrasound would be. I think it varies with the particular radiology department. Ultrasound does not use x rays and is not thought to be dangerous or harmful.
I hope all works out with your meeting with your doctor
best wishes
