CT / questions

by leilasttar, May 07, 2008 01:18PM
I recently was informed of some cysts they had found on a scan from 7 months ago. I had another scan done two weeks ago and it said bilateral adnexal hypodensities. No one has really told me what that means. My dr thinks I may have endometriosis and plans to do surgery to check since I was told its the only real way to find out. Could you tell me what it means? Also, I have a CT pic posted in the ovarian cysts help forum -  http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/510968. Im not really sure what stranding looks like on a CT but I thought I had seen something that looked like that. If you could help I'd appreciate it. Thank you

Hello,

I recommend you talk with your ob/gyn and he or she can communicate with the radiologist who read the study to discuss these issues.  My one piece of advice would be to have a pelvic ultrasound prior to pursuing surgery.  Ultrasound is usually a better modality to evaluated adnexal masses.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
