The tightening in my chest is very painful. Is there anything I can do to prevent or relieve it? Linda

The most practical way to obtain relief for the "very painful tightening" in your chest is to find out what is causing it and then have the treatment prescribed for that cause.  Also, any pain that is "very painful" should not just be treated with pain relievers or ignored.

The best advice we can give is that you arrange to see your primary care physician, as soon as possible, for both diagnosis and treatment.
