Does pain come and go or is it forever

59 year old male. Tethered spinal cord form birth, spinabifida, diastomatelea (sp)
i have never hadproblem with pain befor 11//07. Now I have tightness in Left hamstring, some muscle spasms, in left foot. In th past tow weeks have soreness in right buttock along with soreness in skin in that area
Is it posible that this may go away? What treatment do you recommend for the distress. Excercise, Medication? Surgery, at this point accordigng to the neurosurgeon shouldnt be considered
