MTBI related Exophoria

by Chuck22, May 07, 2008 04:02PM
Are there precautions, advice or suggestios for persons whose exophoria is a result of mild traumatic brain injury compared to those whose exophoria is due to other circumstances?  In this case the exophoria is continuing a year following the injury.

Just make sure you have had extensive imaging of brain with MRI to rule out elevated intracranial pressure or other abnormalities.  Look into medication side effects and elevated intracranial as other possibilities other than just simple trauma.  See a pediatric ophthalmologist for evaluation.  Perhaps prisms can help.  Some cases can respond to certain exercises and other treatments.
