Cystectomy Recuperation and dizziness

by babypooh, May 07, 2008 04:09PM
Hello,
I had my surgery one week ago to remove a 10cm cyst from my left ovary.  Everything was found to be benign and I was able to keep both my ovaries.  I stayed in the hospital two nights and I was dizzy the whole time I was there.  I came home still dizzy, but they told me that it might still be the anesthesia.  I came home and three days later I went to the ER still dizzy and weak at times, as well as a temperature that keeps going up to 100, goes back down, back up, back down...  Blood tests and x-rays came back normal.  They told me I had a little UTI and was dehydrated; they put an IV on me for 1 hr. and was sent home.  Now, three days later, I still get dizzy spells and some strong pelvic pains that sometimes go down to my vagina.  Is this normal?  Should I be more worried about the dizziness?  I still have gallstones that need to be removed, but I was told that wouldn't cause dizziness.  I stopped taking the vicodin thinking that might solve the problem, but it didn't. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

hi There
I am so glad you had a benign cyst.
dizziness can be from:

-medication such as narcotics and anesthesia
-anemia
-dehydration
-inner ear infection
-extreme fatigue and sleep disorder

if your labs are fine and you have stopped taking pain meds, you should consider either dehydration and push fluids or the possibility of an inner ear infection.

With inner ear infections, you may or may not also  have ear pain, headache, pain with swallowing, fever. If your symptoms do not improve, please go and see your doctor fro another exam.
take care
